Arizona Ballroom Champions is very excited to welcome Dancing with the Stars contestant and So You Think You Can Dance choreographer, Jonathan Roberts to its Dancing for Stroke Event. The seven-time DWTS contestant is best known as part of the show’s regular cast and has been paired with stars including supermodel Rachel Hunter, Marie Osmond and Grammy Award winner Macy Gray.
Roberts began his dancing career at the age of 20 when he first discovered his passion for ballroom dancing after seeing the well-known tango scene in Scent of a Woman. Roberts made use of the free dance lesson that was offered with his movie ticket stub and the rest was history. His new passion and the talent for it that followed came as a big surprise to his family who’d always known Roberts as a talented basketball player and not so much the ballroom dancing-type.
Roberts went on to win US National Professional Rising Star Ballroom Champion in 1997 with his partner Roberta Sun. He’s also competed and won champion titles for USA Pro-Am 10 dance in which he was two times undefeated, Latin dance—three times undefeated, and two-time American ballroom champion.
In 2003, Roberts won Blackpool Professional Rising Star Latin Vice Champion with his then-partner, Anna Trebunskaya. The pair then went on to win US National Professional Rising Star Latin Champions in 2004.
Dancing for Stroke
