Dancing for Stroke Arizona
On Saturday, October 3, 2015 Arizona Ballroom Champions will be teaming with Dignity Health Foundation East Valley to host Dancing for Stroke, a formal masquerade themed dance competition at Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort and Spa. This exciting dance competition will feature 10 – 12 nurses and doctors competing and training with us at Arizona Ballroom Champions. These doctors and nurses have devoted their time to working with stroke survivors to aide them in their recoveries and now plan to devote at least 50 hours to train in preparation for this event. Beginning next month we will begin shooting footage for our behind the scenes segment showcasing each of the individual contestants.
Most importantly there will be a special segment for the stroke survivors to show what they have learned while dancing with us in the past and demonstrate to the audience the importance of getting survivors out and active. Arizona Ballroom Champions has been a longtime supporter of aiding stroke survivors in their recovery. Each week we host a free Wednesday class at 11am to help stroke survivors increase their mobility and redevelop social relationships. As we have held these classes we have noticed a significant improvement in their physical abilities as well as developments in their relationships with their caretakers.
This will be our first opportunity to show the Phoenix area the importance of stroke awareness and the impact Dignity Health has had on the community. That being said we are lucky to announce that our host will be Jineane Ford, a friend of the Dignity Health Stroke Programs. Jineane has spent over 20 years in the Phoenix news market and is the former Miss USA 1980; she now works as a spokesperson and media consultant in the area. Individual tickets will be $250 each and we are offering multiple opportunities to sponsor this event that include many perks while at the event and tables for guests.
The evening will begin with cocktails at 6:00pm and follow with a dinner hour at 7:00pm. After dinner has settled the dancing competition will begin at 8:00pm and continue until 10:00pm. Now we know that watching others dance has an inspiring affect so we will be opening the floor to everyone to dance for the closing hour. The staff at Sheraton at Wild Horse Pass knows that after a great event like this guests tend to have a lot of fun and therefore they are offering a special rate of $139 per night for attendees and they are waving the resort fee if you book in advance.
